Velgen polijsten: De complete handleiding

If your car has a scratch, you'll naturally want to remove it. You can easily remove the scratch yourself by polishing your car.

Supplies needed to polish your rims

When you start polishing your rims, it is essential to have your materials in order. This way, you can work continuously and not forget any components. We recommend the following products:

Polishing machine

You can easily and simply polish the rims of a car with the Stipt Nano Polisher and/or the Stipt Mini Dual Action Polisher.

For polishing your rims, we recommend the Stipt Nano Polisher. With this special polishing machine, you can polish both eccentrically and rotationally. It is suitable for the most difficult areas. If you want to increase the distance between the machine and your backing plate, we recommend using the Stipt Extension Bar.

Polishing paste

Polishing paste is indispensable during polishing. That's why we have created a special package (Stipt Polish Paste Combi) containing Stipt Polish Paste Ultimate, Stipt Polish Paste Soft, and Stipt Ultra Paint Protect. With this package, you have all the polishing paste you need for polishing your rims. Additionally, you can apply an extra protective layer with Stipt Ultra Paint Protect or Stipt Wax Shield. This set can also be used for polishing the paintwork.

Polishing pads

You need polishing pads to apply the polishing paste to the polishing machine. These can be attached to the backing plate of your machine.

Note that you use the correct size pad. In our range, you will find pads of 125mm, 75mm, 60mm, and 40mm. For polishing with the Stipt mini Dual Action Polisher, you can use the 75mm polishing pads; if you are using the Stipt Nano Polisher, we recommend the 60mm or 40mm polishing pads.

Step-by-step plan for safe polishing

Follow the step-by-step plan below to safely polish your car yourself. Step 1. First, clean the rims

Before you start polishing, it is necessary to clean the rims thoroughly. For alloy wheels, use the Stipt Real Effective Cleaner. For chrome / polished / painted / powder-coated rims, use the Stipt Iron Remover.

Mist the rim with the Stipt Real Effective Cleaner or the Stipt Iron Remover. Then, you can easily clean it using the Stipt Exterior Detail Brush, Stipt Wheel Brush, Stipt Precision Detail Brushes, Stipt Wash Glove, or Stipt Wash Sponge. When you are done cleaning, rinse the rim with water. If the rims are still very dirty after the first wash, repeat this step several times until the desired result is achieved.

Please note that you treat the rims one by one. Do not treat the rims in direct sunlight or at too high a temperature. The rim must therefore be completely cooled down.

The depth of the scratches determines which polishing pad and polishing compound you need. If you have deep scratches on your rim, you can start with the Stipt Polish Paste Ultimate in combination with the Stipt Mini Polish Pad Hard.

Once you have completed the first polishing session, you can buff out the rims using Stipt Ceramic Wax and the Stipt Wax Towel. After this, it's time for the second polishing round. But this time, you use the Stipt Polish Paste Ultimate and the Stipt Mini Polish Pad Medium. Again, after polishing, buff this out with the Stipt Ceramic Wax and the Stipt Wax Towel.

Now it's time for the final polishing. After the Ultimate polishing paste, it's time for the Stipt Polish Paste Soft. Add three dots of Stipt Polish Paste Soft to the Stipt Mini Polish Pad Soft and start polishing the rim. Even after this last polishing, it is necessary to thoroughly buff out the rim with the Stipt Ceramic Wax and the Stipt Wax Towel.
