When should you clay your car?

Cars often get dirty, and unfortunately also with stubborn dirt like tar, tree sap, insect residue (also check out our insect cleaner) and more. This stubborn dirt adheres to your car's paintwork and can eventually lead to serious paint damage. Therefore, it is necessary to clay your car. With a professional clay towel, you not only ensure that the car gets clean, but also that the adhered dirt is safely removed from your car's paintwork, preventing paint damage.

  1. Fill a Stipt Grit Bucket with water.
  2. Then add a splash of Stipt Perfect Shampoo.
  3. First, hand wash the car using the Stipt Wash Glove.
  4. Then rinse the car with a garden hose or pressure washer.
  5. Now it's time to start with the Stipt 3D Clay Towel. Submerge it completely in the bucket with Stipt Perfect Shampoo and add a splash of Stipt Perfect Shampoo to the towel. It is important that the clay towel is thoroughly wet.
  6. Then, using a rotating motion, rub the desired part with the Stipt 3D Clay Towel, making sure the black side is facing down.
  7. Repeat until the entire surface feels soft again.
  8. When you are done claying your car, rinse the car and enjoy a factory-new result.
  9. Regarding cleaning the Stipt 3D Clay Towel, you can wash it with water and then air dry it. Make sure the black parts do not touch each other. For proper storage of the Stipt 3D Clay Towel without problems, it is recommended to place a sheet of parchment paper on the black part and then roll up the towel.

Common mistakes when claying a car

Even when claying your car, you can make mistakes. Avoid these common mistakes:

Using too little shampoo

It is essential for your clay towel to glide well. You can achieve this by thoroughly wetting it with our Stipt Perfect Shampoo combined with water. Insufficient lubrication can lead to scratches on the paintwork.

Using the clay towel incorrectly

Make sure to use the black side of our clay towel on your car's paintwork.

Not cleaning the Stipt 3D Clay Towel

Dirt accumulates in the perforated holes, but these also need to be cleaned regularly. We recommend doing this after each use. You can easily wash the Stipt 3D Clay Towel with water and then let it air dry. Make sure the black parts do not touch each other.

Tip: When storing, place a sheet of parchment paper on the black part and then roll it up.
